I'm pleased to announced that Astaro Security Gateway Version 8.100 has been GA-released and is being distributed via our Up2Date infrastructure. The main focus of this release is our Wireless Security products; 8.100 brings official support for our much-sought-after Astaro Access Points to the Version 8 platform. Version 8.100 also introduces more flexibility for Astaro RED deployments, improvements to SMTP profiles and WAN link balancing, and many usability improvements based on your feature submissions and feedback.

A few security vulnerabilities have been posted which require us to make an update to our V7 installations. Since we do not put our users at extended risk by following a scheduled update window, we are releasing this special Up2Date immediately. This V7.509 Up2date is soley issued in order to patch two components, and no new features are introduced. If you have been awaiting the release of ASG V7.509 so that you may migrate to V8.100 on your ASG appliance via our one-touch process, note that this is still on schedule but will be released under the V7.510 label. This is a bug notice for Version 8.000-8.003 regarding L2TP with DHCP. If you are planning to use Version 8 - either with the appliance upgrade button or an ISO install + restore of your backup file, this configuration will cause problems. You also should not push the "one-touch upgrade button" introduced in 7.508 if you use L2TP with DHCP in V7.

This morning, ASG version 7.508 has been released. The focus of this package is a one-touch upgrade from ASG version 7 to version 8 for ASG appliances, along with some final polish to accommodate the GA-release of our Wireless Security products. The appliance upgrade process provides an easy migration from V7 to V8 without the need to manually re-install the AstaroOS and restore from a backup file. Once the appliance upgrade has started via the Up2Date section, ASG V8 will be installed and all configuration will be imported. We have also improved the IPS engine and added outbound spam scanning into the V7 platform like V8. Read on for more details about the appliance migration process and other notes.
