Astaro and secunet enter technology partnership
German authorities benefit from a combination of extensive industry know-how and leading UTM technology
Reading, UK - 17th February 2010 – Astaro Corporation (http://www.astaro.com), the leading European UTM vendor, today announced a technological partnership with secunet Security Networks AG. Together, the two companies will develop and distribute IT security solutions in the future. The first common project for the two companies is the development of the new secunet wall 2, an all-in-one security appliance, which will be introduced at this year's CeBIT.
secunet is a specialist for security in the government sector and has been the security partner for the German Federal Government since 2004. As mandated by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), secunet developed the SINA family of products that are used in many areas by the Federal Government to secure its communications. The newly formed partnership allows the use of Astaro’s technology in the federal administration and opens up a new market segment for Astaro.
"With secunet we have gained a very strong partner that has deep knowledge of the special requirements government authorities have regarding security," said Jan Hichert, CEO of Astaro. "Through the combination of Astaro’s world leading technology with secunet’s industry expertise and market access, two German companies with German products will now redefine the standard for security in Germany."
The first result of the partnership between secunet and Astaro is the new secunet wall 2. The security gateway integrates multiple security technologies in one appliance, including firewall, intrusion prevention, anti-spam and anti-phishing, e-mail encryption, single sign-on, clustering, two anti-virus scanners and more. All security features within the secunet wall 2 are controlled via a graphical web interface. In order to prove its high safety level, the system will be certified according to Common Criteria EAL 4+ in 2010.
"With Astaro AG we have found a competent partner with many years of experience in the area of unified threat management," said Dr. Rainer Baumgart, CEO of secunet. "Our offer for public consumers will be perfectly supplemented by the new all-in-one appliance."
