BURLINGTON, Mass., July 28, 2005 – Astaro, a leader in unified threat management network security and creator of the award-winning Astaro Security Linux software and Astaro Security Gateway line of appliances, today announced the opening of its Asia Pacific regional headquarters and the appointment of Daniel Schneersohn as vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific and Japan.
The opening of this office in Hong Kong and the hiring of Schneersohn mark the next step for Astaro in its commitment to the region. The company expects to open additional local offices throughout the region as it makes available new Asian language products in the coming quarters.
"Asia represents a fabulous growth market for Astaro and Daniel is the right man to help us build our capabilities there," said Jan Hichert, CEO of Astaro. "His intimate knowledge of both the security space and this region of the world is vital to our ability to serve our Asia-based customers."
Schneersohn, 39, is a veteran of the security market in Asia and has been living in the region for more than 15 years. He has worked extensively with channel and enterprise customers, first at Symantec Corporation where he was responsible for setting up the company’s presence in North Asia and then with Symantec's channel sales and partner programs across Asia Pacific. Later in his career at NetScreen, he managed sales for Asia Pacific and Japan.
