Dear Customers, Partners, Colleagues and Friends of Astaro:
I wanted to let you know that Astaro is changing the name of Astaro Security Linux to "Astaro Security Gateway software."
There are two reasons for this change:
| Because we now market security appliances as well as software, it will be much easier to talk about "Astaro Security Gateway appliances and software" rather than trying to explain that we sell "Astaro Security Gateway appliances, running Astaro Security Linux software, as well as Astaro Security Linux as stand-alone software." |

| Because Linux was in the product name, many potential customers mistakenly thought that the software only protected Linux servers, or that they needed a trained Linux administrator to manage the software. Sometimes we had no chance to explain that our technology protects all types of networks, and that no Linux knowledge is required. |
I want to emphasize that Astaro is in no way retreating from our core belief in the advantages of Linux and Open Source software. Linux is the best operating system platform for security software, and Astaro is increasing our participation in the Open Source community.
We will be adopting the new name gradually during September and October. You can see the first use of Astaro Security Gateway software by downloading our new datasheet. Over the next few weeks we will be revising our other datasheets and collateral, the web site, and finally the software itself.
By the way, if you look at the new datasheet, you will see that we are now describing the Astaro Security Gateway in terms of its three main functions - Web Security, Email Security, and Network Security. The nine security applications that are now included in the Astaro Security Gateway are grouped into these three areas. This description will be incorporated into Astaro's collateral and web site at the same time as the new name.
So we would like to thank everyone who has made Astaro Security Linux so popular, and assure you that we will continue to enhance and expand our software just as we have over the past five years.
