Astaro’s New Version 7 is Compatible with Vista

Astaro Security Gateway now Vista Compatible.

BURLINGTON, Mass., February 27, 2007 – Astaro Corporation (www.astaro.com), a leader in delivering unified threat management (UTM) security appliances, today announced that its recently released Version 7 software is fully compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista™ operating system.

Astaro offers a family of Security Gateway appliances that protect computer networks from a variety of attacks including viruses, hackers, spam, spyware, phishing, and unauthorized content.

“We’re happy to report that all of Astaro’s virtual private network (VPN) applications, including SSL VPN, IPSec VPN, and other popular remote access options, are fully Vista compatible,” confirmed Jan Hichert, Astaro CEO.

During the company’s Version 7 development phase, SSL VPN drivers were updated to a newer version that supports Vista. Therefore, SSL VPN in Astaro Version 7 is fully Vista-ready and ready for enterprise use.

Additionally, L2TP over IPSec and PPTP (Windows Vista included) have also been successfully tested against Version 7. This, combined with the new Astaro Secure Client, makes all remote access variants Vista-compatible.

Windows Vista, together with the 2007 Microsoft® Office system, was made available on Nov. 30 to Volume Licensing customers and became broadly available on Jan. 30.

On the same date, Astaro announced version 7 of its Astaro Security Gateway, representing seven years of advanced technology development, customer feedback, end-user suggestions and current marketplace demands.

Version 7 contains a number of advanced features and enhancements including transparent e-mail encryption, SSL VPN, active/active clustering and safeguards for the uncontrolled flood of unsecured instant messaging traffic and peer-to-peer file sharing traffic.
