Following the release of an Up2Date for our Version 8 line, we also have a release for Astaro Security Gateway Version 7 which is designed to address a connectivity issue with SwissCom DSL that was introduced due to changes by that ISP. We'll also take this chance to address some published vulnerabilites for SSL and fix a few bugs. Keep in mind that ASG V7 is due to sunset at the end of this year in December 2012 and will be end-of-life at that time.

As several customers and partners have expressed their interest in our current Amazon capabilities, I'd like to take the chance to summarize our integration with Amazon and their excellent cloud services. In ASG 8.300, we added two different areas of support with Amazon Web Services (AWS) products; our solution can be run within the Amazon Elastic Computing Cloud (EC2)using a pre-built machine image provided by us, along with a dedicated Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) connector to join your ASG to your VPC with a level of ease never before possible. As a result, you then saw the business case possibilities around using RED appliances and WIFI Access Points for connecting branch offices back to products hosted within Amazon; we have shipped thousands of units in response. A quick note: if you happen to be in the New York area tomorrow, November 19th, you might be interested in the Amazon Web Services Summit taking place at the Javits Convention center where you will see our products in action along with many other innovative and amazing things. (If you cannot physically attend, they plan to offer streaming for several tracks as well. See below.)

Over the past few weeks, hordes of strange and frightening monsters invaded our website. Fortunately only in a metaphorical sense – however they would have had a day thanks to our Complete Security package which eliminates all threats thoroughly. The monsters we are speaking of are the ones from our creative competition and built with bricks.

We are proud to announce that we have been positioned in the “Leaders” quadrant of Gartner, Inc’s 2012 Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management. The quadrant is based on an assessment of a company’s ability to execute and completeness of vision.

The next major version of Astaro Security Gateway will be known as Sophos UTM 9. You are invited to participate in our just-released public Beta of this version to test and provide feedback which we will use to shape and polish the product as we move towards GA. The public Beta for UTM 9 is scheduled to run until late June, in preparation for a release that is targeted for July 15th.

Many exciting new features have been added; we have extended onto the desktop with Endpoint Protection, Wireless Protection has a new captive portal system which is perfect for hotels & coffee shops, and a jaw-dropping HTML5 VPN Portal for true clientless access makes its debut as well. Full details on the UTM 9 Public Beta, (along with download links and license keys) can be found here in our community forums. Today we have made available Version 8.301 of Astaro Security Gateway. This is a maintenance release only which addresses various reported issues and will contribute to the stability of your ASG installation. While this Up2Date will be made automatically available for installation, you can read on for more details and manual download links.

Today we have released a maintenance Up2Date for Astaro Command Center. This release will increase the stability of your installation by addressing a few reported bugs, most notably the World-Map overview not operating correctly due to a change at Yahoo with their maps interface. Full details are available inside after the break.
